A Creative Artist Presence With Modern Royal Drama
Nil Gun is a London-based lettering artist whose visual language moves between migration, memory, ornament, and atmosphere. Her work carries the grace of traditional calligraphy into a richly contemporary world of signage, glass painting, and expressive craft.

Lettering artist blending spiritual rhythm and public-facing visual drama.
A life written between cultures
Born in Bulgaria in 1979 and relocated to Istanbul in 1989, Nilgün Aneliya grew up between cultures. That movement shaped the layered emotional depth of her practice and eventually led her to the meditative language of calligraphy.
Her formal education began in Ceramic Engineering at Afyon Kocatepe University, yet her artistic center emerged under the mentorship of master calligrapher Ethem Çalışkan. That apprenticeship brought discipline, philosophy, and refinement into her creative life.
“I was raw, I was cooked, I was burned.”
An artist practice with texture, elegance, and spectacle
From intimate hand-lettering to large visual statements on glass and boards, her work feels ceremonial, tactile, and unmistakably alive.
